A globally recognised aerospace manufacturer in Denham is recruiting an Aerospace Assembly Operative to join its parachute and safety systems team. This role involves the assembly, inspection and preparation of parachutes and drogues used in aviation safety systems for fighter jets. It is highly detailed, hands‑on work carried out in a safety‑critical environment where accuracy, traceability and quality standards are taken seriously.

Although full training is provided, the work is best suited to someone with a manufacturing or engineering background who is comfortable following technical instructions and carrying out precise, repeatable tasks.

What you’ll be doing

  • Assembling and packing parachutes and drogues to defined technical specifications and manuals
  • Drawing parts from stores and accurately recording batch numbers and history sheets
  • Inspecting parachutes for defects and documenting findings clearly
  • Preparing parachutes for loading into presses and operating presses to specification
  • Carrying out self‑inspection and peer inspection to company standards
  • Surveying and repacking parachutes for MRO activities as required
  • Supporting development work on prototypes and test components
  • Maintaining tools and equipment and reporting any defects
  • Following all H&S requirements, including risk assessments and safe systems of work

What you need

  • Background in manufacturing or engineering

  • Strong attention to detail and good manual dexterity
  • Basic understanding of health & safety procedures
  • Basic IT skills for recording and documentation
  • GCSE Maths and English (grades D-G or equivalent)
  • Previous parachute packing experience is useful but not essential, as full training will be provided. A mechanical engineering apprenticeship or similar hands‑on training is advantageous.

What’s on offer

  • £28,000 per annum
  • Days role: 08:00-17:00 Monday to Thursday / 08:00-12:00 Friday
  • Strong benefits package
  • Full training on parachute assembly and inspection techniques
  • Genuine progression opportunities
  • Long‑term stability with over a decade of secured contracts

This is a permanent opportunity with a respected aerospace manufacturer, working on safety‑critical components where precision, traceability and quality are central to the role.
