Trainee Material Testing Site Technician

As a Trainee Field Technician, you will work on active construction sites, supporting the testing and inspection of materials to ensure they meet required quality and safety standards. This is a hands on role carried out entirely in a site environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with on-site testing of construction materials such as concrete, soil, asphalt and aggregates.
• Carry out basic field tests under supervision (e.g. concrete slump tests, soil compaction checks).
• Collect and label samples from the site for further testing.
• Accurately record test data and observations.
• Set up testing equipment on-site.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and site rules.
• Work closely with other technicians and site engineers.

Requirements

• GCSEs (or equivalent), particularly in Maths and Science.
• Full UK driving licence (preferred as you may need to travel between sites).
• Valid CSCS card (or willingness to obtain one).

• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Good attention to detail.
• Basic numeracy and record‑keeping skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and safety‑conscious.
