Job Description:

“You care about making a positive impact in the world. You understand greatness requires thinking differently. An inclusive and accepting work environment is important to you.”

A job at IKEA is so much more than home furnishings. Together, we work to make a better everyday life for the many. It’s the perfect fit if you want to contribute, grow, and share. Join the team and start a better life for yourself.

IKEA Exeter are looking to welcome a Weekend Customer Warehouse Operative to join our delightful and friendly team. If you are looking for a role where you get to develop your skills and passion in a warehouse/fulfilment role, and co‑create the wonderful everyday with our many in‑store guests, we would be happy to hear from you.

We have a 12‑hour contract working in our Self‑Serve Warehouse. This is a customer‑facing role. If you have been to an IKEA store before, you’ll know this is the area before the check‑outs where customers collect their products. This is a mix of warehouse/fulfilment work with good customer service, so a passion for both is important!

  • Interviews will be between 11 and 17 June.
  • Start date of employment will be Saturday, 04 July.
  • Hourly rate of £13.45 per hour.
  • Availability to work two 6‑hour shifts on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as ad‑hoc shifts through the week (Monday to Friday) is required.
  • These are permanent contracts where you will be working throughout the year, including the holiday periods.
  • We can discuss flexibility to match your life and our business needs during the interview.

  • Ability to prioritise and organise your workload swiftly and with attention to detail.
  • Proven experience in utilising technical equipment to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Prepared to initiate tasks on your own initiative and to participate actively in group efforts.
  • A strong customer service mindset, and the passion to be helpful and attentive to customers as they navigate our Self‑Serve Warehouse.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

  • You will be maintaining the Self‑Serve Warehouse, which means condensing and moving stock, supporting customers with their questions, and making sure that IKEA’s flat‑pack products are accessible, stocked and ready for our customers to purchase.
  • This is a physical role as you will be manual handling of heavy stock.
  • Working with or around heavy machinery and tools, such as counterbalance and pump trucks, and flatbed trolleys, to safely and efficiently transport heavy goods within the warehouse.
  • Ensure all safety protocols and regulations are followed for a secure environment for both our customers and co‑workers.

It takes the diversity of thought, background, and culture to make great ideas a reality. We welcome candidates from all walks of life, including those with disabilities, to join us and feel valued in the workplace.
