We are recruiting a Programme Manager to lead the development and delivery of community programmes for young people that foster resilience, confidence and wellbeing. The role ensures that programmes align with funding agreements, achieve maximum impact and include direct programme support, grant reporting and volunteer coordination.

Job Details

Location: West Bromwich (regular community presence required).

Salary: £28,000 – £35,000 (pro‑rata if part‑time).

Contract: Fixed term – 12 months.

Hours: 35 hours per week with evening and weekend flexibility.

Reports to: Board of Trustees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of community and youth programmes in line with our grant agreements.
  • Manage the programme budget and ensure all spending aligns with funder requirements and internal targets.
  • Identify local funding opportunities and assist in writing small grant bids to support programme sustainability.
  • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers and future staff, providing leadership to current staff members.
  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), maintaining child protection policies and risk assessments.
  • Build strong partnerships with local organisations and community stakeholders.
  • Collect data and feedback to produce insightful reports for trustees and funders, demonstrating the value of our work.

Person Specification

Experience

  • At least 2 years in community project management, ideally within a small charity environment.
  • Experience writing and submitting reports to donors.
  • Understanding of development and leading on projects and programmes, engaging all stakeholders.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Proven ability to manage small–scale budgets and lead staff and volunteers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a range of audiences and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding and Health and Safety regulations, and experience ensuring adherence to these.

Attributes

  • Highly self‑motivated, organised, and able to complete own administrative and logistical requirements.
  • Flexible in work pattern, as the role will require some hours outside normal office hours.

Requirements

  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Subject to reference and an Enhanced DBS check.
