Job Description:

Commercial law firm in Leeds is looking to recruit an Employment lawyer of 0 to 1 years’ PQE. The team covers a broad range of Employment law matters ranging from board level strategic advice through to day‑tode‑day HR related support. They undertake contentious and non‑contentious work for both national and international clients ranging from blue‑chip FTSE and Fortune 500 companies to start‑ups and owner‑managed businesses and work across a broad range of sectors including:

The successful candidate will manage their own caseload of smaller matters (with an appropriate level of Partner supervision) as well as working with the wider team on a variety of larger Employment related matters (including some high‑profile cases). Their caseload will include a mix of contentious and non‑contentious matters and will include:

Responsibilities

  • manage own caseload of smaller matters and collaborate with the wider team on larger Employment matters (including high‑profile cases)
  • primarily covering employment tribunal hearings, including multi‑day discrimination, whistleblowing and detriment cases; unfair dismissal and wages cases; and contentious preliminary hearings (jurisdiction, disability, applications etc.)
  • employment law advice to a wide range of clients involving unfair dismissal, disciplinary, grievances, whistleblowing, discrimination, detriment claims and equal pay
  • drafting and preparing documents, tribunal responses, bundles, witness statements and reports
  • TUPE/ transactional support
  • general HR related matters and day‑to‑day support of clients HR teams
  • drafting articles and legal updates
  • assisting with business development initiatives including training and networking

Skills and Experience Required

  • newly qualified solicitor with at least 1 seat completed in Employment
  • strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team
