Overview

If you believe in compassion and dignity consider applying to join a brilliant and diverse board as a Trustee and Deputy Treasurer at Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants where you will help our community find support and friendship.

What difference will you make?

In the last year our Centre has offered support to our community of 220 members. We have over 600 engaging and fun English classes and 2000 appointments offering support with challenges such as housing or healthcare or dedicated help to be confident online. We also host dance and choir classes at our three hubs in Islington, offering a warm welcome and support to those feeling alone or vulnerable. Trustees are encouraged to join in activities as their time allows and get to know the talented staff team and energetic volunteers.

What are we looking for?

  • A trustee with a finance qualification and relevant experience.
  • The ability to work with our Treasurer to improve our collective financial knowledge.
  • Commitment to succession planning and board strategy.
  • A background that values lived experience; we already include former clients on the board.

Hybrid

Work will be hybrid, coordinating between in‑person board meetings and remote responsibilities.

What will you be doing?

  • Collaborate with the Treasurer on financial oversight and planning.
  • Support the advancement of our 3‑year strategy in an increasingly challenging funding environment.
  • Participate in succession planning and help strengthen the board’s collective capacity.
  • Contribute to the community through active engagement and support for clients.
