Job Description:

Job Overview

We are recruiting for a number of Senior Project Manager vacancies at Band 7, on 12‑month fixed‑term contracts, or secondments for existing NHS staff. We seek applicants who have proven experience in successfully planning and delivering transformational change projects for frontline healthcare, whether as a clinician, an operational manager, or a change/Improvement manager. For one of the vacant roles, we seek specific experience of working in NHS sepsis services. For another, we seek experience of working in or directly with a Local Authority. The Senior Project Manager role is critical in leading and supporting the delivery of our ongoing work programme, designed to make tangible improvements to patient safety and care outcomes through the implementation of innovations.

Main Duties

These are senior Band 7 roles, and the successful applicants will have direct experience of working within the NHS, and/or wider health and social care services. Projects assigned to lead on and others to be directly supported will be dependent on previous experience.

Applicants Must Have

  • a positive mindset towards the use of innovations that can transform and improve the way health and care services might be delivered;
  • experience of successfully collaborating across teams to deliver projects that improve health and/or care outcomes;
  • strong communication skills – written, verbal and in delivering presentations;
  • high motivation, resilience, and extremely well organised;
  • ability to influence others to support change‑management initiatives.

Working Environment

Health Innovation West of England embraces a hybrid working model, offering the flexibility to work from home and in our office in Bristol. However, this role requires a firm expectation to attend regular meetings in our Bristol offices, and to be able to work from the office on a regular basis. You would also be required to travel occasionally to other locations within our geography and nationally for in‑person meetings and events.

Organisation Overview

The Health Innovation West of England is one of 15 organisations within the Health Innovation Network, established and commissioned by NHS England and the Office of Life Sciences. Our role is to deliver positive health and care outcomes in the West of England and nationally by supporting the discovery and development of promising innovations and the deployment of proven innovations. We achieve this by first understanding and then responding to local system priorities, placing a strong emphasis on reducing health inequalities. In this way we can make sure that innovations benefit more patients more quickly, enabling people to play an increasing role in their own care and prevention of ill health.

Our work programme aligns with the UK government’s three shifts for healthcare:

  • Hospital to community
  • Analogue to digital
  • Treatment to prevention

We are an NHS organisation and employment with Health Innovation West of England is through the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust. We value diverse backgrounds and experiences to foster innovation and reflect the population we serve.
