AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) designs, plans, delivers, and operates all AWS global infrastructure. We keep the cloud running by supporting AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that give customers continual access to innovation. We solve complex problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain.
In This Role, You Will
Work with construction teams to integrate quality assurance into data center network pathway infrastructure construction throughout the project lifecycle. Participate in construction design reviews, page turns, and construction document reviews to ensure standards are met. Influence construction managers, general contractors and other contractors to adopt quality assurance checklists that validate conformance to Amazon and jurisdictional standards. Gather feedback from construction teams and internal stakeholders to refine quality processes, verify that pathway infrastructure meets installation requirements, and document construction standards and SOPs. Conduct training with construction managers and provide guidelines to ensure consistent execution across all construction activities.
Key job responsibilities
- Own Quality Assurance programs to drive world‑class quality in network infrastructure for new data center construction.
- Review cable tray designs against Amazon’s Policies and Industry Standards and define acceptance checklists for each build milestone.
- Collaborate with Construction Management and Technical Infrastructure Project Managers to ensure network pathway infrastructures are built according to design documents and milestones, document early signals for risks and escalate for remediation.
- Capture requirement variants between approved design and physical installation and close installation gaps with onsite and design teams.
- Maintain and update Quality Assurance documents, inspection checklists, installation requirements, SOPs, and global design standards.
- Monitor installations and collect lessons learned on network pathway quality.
- Define Network Pathway Infrastructure Quality Training Programs and create training materials for construction teams.
- Define quality and operational metrics related to construction performance, establish measurement frameworks, and analyze data for strategic improvements.
- Travel regionally and locally up to 25% for site visits and meetings.
A Day in the Life
Visit AWS data centers to ensure adherence to AWS and Industry standards, collect lessons learned, and continuously improve network pathway and installation standards. Work with engineers, managers, and operations teams across the company to develop and improve standards based on observations and lessons learned.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- 4+ years of experience in network pathway infrastructure design or installation in data center environments.
- Experience performing failure analysis and recommending engineering‑level corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Proficiency in NEMA VE1/VE2 or IEC 61537 for cable tray construction and installation.
- Experience conducting quality inspections in live data center environments with engagement of contractors, engineers, and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing quality across the full project lifecycle, from design review through installation validation and defect remediation.
- Knowledge of end‑to‑end program management methodologies and tooling for moderate to complex scale programs.
- BICSI RCDD Certification or internationally recognized equivalent (e.g., CDCDP, DCDC, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills, problem‑solving, attention to detail, and root‑cause analysis experience.
- Experience in AutoCAD or other Computer Aided Design tools.
- Knowledge of critical data center equipment.
- Proven ability to identify creative and innovative solutions to improve quality, reliability, or maintainability.
