Job Summary
This post is located in a busy acute hospital. The candidate will undertake a range of duties in the provision of catering services, ensuring food production is carried out to safety, hygiene and quality standards. Willingness to learn and undertake on the job training is required. Previous experience of chef within the NHS would be advantageous.
Main duties of the job
Comply with all Trust policies in respect of Health & Safety at Work, Fire Regulations, Manual Handling, COSHH, Food Hygiene Regulation including full implementation of HACCP. Prepare and store all food in accordance with policies and procedures, maintain temperatures, minimise waste and adhere to portion sizes. Prepare special diets in line with Trust Dietician policies. Liaise with ward staff as necessary. Participate as a member of a team to maintain quality, identify improvement areas, and attend regular training courses. Participate in an annual PADR and maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the kitchen environment.
Person Specification
- Qualified in Level 2 Food Hygiene
- Qualified Chef/NVQ/City & Guilds
- Experience of working in a catering environment
- Good numeric skills
