Location: Saxmundham, East Suffolk (own transport required due to rural location)

Pay: £15.50-£17.00 per hour (DOE)

Job type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday, 42.5 hours per week (07:30-16:30)

HRGO Recruitment is working with a well-established, family‑run engineering fabrication business supplying high‑quality, bespoke metalwork and engineered solutions to the agricultural sector. Due to continued growth, they’re looking to add a skilled MIG Welder Fabricator to their workshop team.

This is a hands‑on position for someone who takes pride in accurate fabrication, tidy welds, and building to drawing.

Key responsibilities

  • Fabricate metal components: cutting, shaping, drilling and assembling parts
  • MIG welding on a range of metals to a high standard
  • Work from engineering drawings / blueprints and job specifications
  • Mechanical fitting and assembly of fabricated components (accurate alignment, finishing, fit‑up)
  • Inspect and check finished work for quality and accuracy
  • Use workshop machinery and tools safely and correctly
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following H&S procedures

Skills & experience (essential)

  • Proven experience in fabrication and welding in a workshop/engineering environment
  • Confident with MIG welding (approx. 2‑10mm)
  • Strong mechanical fitting skills and attention to detail
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Reliable, self‑motivated, and able to work as part of a team
  • Commitment to health & safety
  • Own transport due to location

Desirable (not essential)

  • Experience within agricultural engineering/fabrication
  • Welding/fabrication qualifications (e.g., NVQ or equivalent)
  • TIG welding on stainless steel down to approx. 1.2mm
