Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated and enthusiastic Staff Nurse with excellent communication skills to work as part of the Wimborne Hospital Outpatient nursing team.

Wimborne Hospital Outpatient Department hosts a variety of specialist clinics, including cardiology, general surgery, and orthopaedics.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate an ability to provide high standards of nursing care which is driven by patient experience and evidence based best practice. The successful candidate will also be required to demonstrate good leadership qualities.

The successful candidates will be dealing with both staff and patient issues, therefore will need to be able to demonstrate enthusiasm and motivation and excellent team working skills and forward thinking.

Experience of working in the NHS is essential.

Main duties of the job

To act up in the absence of senior staff.

To work as a member of the Outpatient Team as a competent practitioner.

To facilitate a high standard, efficient and friendly service for patients attending Clinics in the outpatient department.

To work across the outpatient services at various sites if required with the base outpatients at Wimborne Hospital.

To meet service objectives and work within the operational policy.

Knowledge, Skill, Training

  • NMC registration
  • Membership of the relevant professional body
  • Understanding the role of outpatient staff nurse

Job Specific Experience

  • Recent previous experience within a comparable role
  • Evidence of CPD

Managerial Experience

  • Experience of providing clinical supervision and mentoring of junior staff

PERSONAL QUALITIES/ATTRIBUTES

  • Able to communicate effectively with staff, patients, visitors, or external organisations verbally
  • Able to overcome barriers to understanding where there are physical or mental disabilities
