What You Will Do
- Manage a reduced caseload of complex referrals in areas such as Child in Need and Child Protection, conducting statutory assessments under Sections 17 and 47 of the Children Act 1989.
- Lead safeguarding activities including strategy discussions, threshold decision making, and implementing immediate risk management interventions.
- Provide mentoring, consultation, and practice guidance to Social Workers and ASYE staff, promoting reflective and evidence-based practice.
- Ensure quality assurance of assessments, plans, and case recordings, maintaining compliance with statutory timescales, safeguarding procedures, and local standards.
Person Specification
- Qualifications: Degree in Social Work (BA/MA or equivalent) required; Practice Educator or advanced practice qualification is desirable.
- Experience: Substantial post-qualifying experience in statutory children’s social care.
- Registration & Compliance: Must be registered with Social Work England, with a strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and statutory assessment frameworks. A thorough understanding of Public Law Outline, safeguarding thresholds, and court processes is necessary.
