An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Engineer (mechanically biased) to join a well-established manufacturing business in Clitheroe. This is a days-based position offering long-term stability, a varied mechanical workload, and strong support from both engineering and operations teams.
While professional experience and qualifications are key for this role, make sure to check you have the preferable soft skills before applying if required.An on-call rota operates on a 1-in-5 basis , covering two local sites. A company vehicle is provided while on call for full usage across the week.
What You’ll Do…
Health, Safety & Compliance
Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant working environmentEnsure all engineering activities meet HSE, food safety, environmental, and company standardsContribute to the development and review of risk assessments and safe systems of workMaintain engineering areas to a high GMP standard
Maintenance & Engineering (Mechanical Focus)
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on plant, machinery, and production equipmentRespond to mechanical breakdowns quickly to minimise downtimeDiagnose and rectify mechanical faults, with basic electrical fault-finding where requiredDismantle, repair, and reassemble machinery using hand and power toolsMaintain and adjust mechanical systems including conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, motors, and pneumaticsInspect components using precision measuring equipment (e.g. callipers, micrometres)
Fabrication & Technical Skills
Fabricate and modify components using workshop machineryWelding experience desirable but not essentialRead and interpret engineering drawings, manuals, and technical specifications
Systems, Communication & Teamwork
Accurately log all work on a CMMS system and complete follow-up actionsCommunicate faults, progress updates, and repair times effectivelySupport root cause analysis (RCA) and improvement projectsWork independently and collaboratively within the engineering team
Stock & Resource Management
Monitor and maintain stock levels of engineering spares and consumablesAssist with parts ordering and verificationUse materials efficiently to control costs and minimise waste
Continuous Improvement
Maintain up-to-date mechanical knowledge through training and developmentProvide engineering support and input where requiredContribute to team KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives
