Role: Senior Staff Nurse – Neonatal Unit
Location: The Portland Hospital for Women & Children, Central London
Full time: 37.5 hours per week
Shifts: Monday–Sunday (long days, nights & weekends)

An Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Staff Nurse to join our Neonatal Unit at The Portland Hospital. Rated “Good” by the CQC, The Portland is the UK’s only private hospital dedicated exclusively to the healthcare needs of women and children.
Responsibilities
- Act as deputy to the Sister/Charge Nurse and support day‑to‑day smooth running of the unit.
- Mentor junior staff and lead shifts when required.
- Advocate for patients and families and collaborate with multidisciplinary team for safe, compassionate care.
- Implement and evaluate holistic care plans, participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- NMC Child Registered Nurse (RN Child / RSCN) or NMC Adult Registered Nurse, qualified in Speciality Training (SCBU, HDU and ICU modules).
- Experience working within a Neonatal Unit, including attendance to deliveries in labour ward (post‑qualification). (Essential)
- Neonatal Life Support (provider status Essential).
- Experience supervising and assessing students and shift leading (Essential).
- Excellent clinical governance and audit experience.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to high standards of clinical care.
