Are you a Manufacturing Engineer, Automation Technician, Robotics Engineer or Maintenance Engineer looking to develop your automation and robotics expertise in a highly automated manufacturing environment?
This is an excellent opportunity to join a business that continues to invest heavily in automation, robotics and manufacturing technology. You’ll work on a wide range of automated production cells, supporting reliability, reducing downtime and helping to improve overall equipment performance.
Importantly, this is not a pure Controls Engineer or Robotics Programmer role. Instead, you’ll use your fault-finding, diagnostic and problem‑solving skills to keep automated systems running efficiently while receiving ongoing robotics training and development.
What makes this opportunity different?
- Significant exposure to robotics and automation technology
- Dedicated robotics training cell on site
- Investment in external robotics training courses
- Opportunity to develop skills across ABB, Fanuc and KUKA systems
- Hands‑on engineering role with varied technical challenges
- Ongoing automation investment across the manufacturing operation
- Early finish every Friday
The Role
As an Automation Engineer, you’ll support a range of automated production cells and robotic systems across the manufacturing facility.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Diagnosing faults across automated manufacturing equipment
- Supporting ABB, Fanuc and KUKA robotic systems
- Making modifications to existing robot programmes and production routines
- Troubleshooting PLC‑controlled equipment
- Carrying out fault finding on Siemens S5, Siemens S7 and Mitsubishi PLC systems
- Supporting continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
- Investigating recurring equipment failures and implementing solutions
- Assisting with automation upgrades and improvement projects
- Working closely with production teams to minimise downtime and maximise performance
About You
We would welcome applications from candidates with experience in roles such as Automation Engineer, Robotics Engineer, Automation Technician, Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer or Multi‑skilled Engineer.
You will ideally have:
- Experience working within an automated manufacturing environment
- Exposure to at least one robotics platform such as ABB, Fanuc or KUKA
- PLC fault‑finding and diagnostic experience
- Strong electrical fault‑finding capability
- A practical approach to engineering problem solving
- Experience supporting production or manufacturing equipment
It would be beneficial but not essential to have:
- Previous automation or robotics maintenance experience
- Multi‑skilled maintenance engineering experienceContinuous improvement experience
- Knowledge of automated production cells
The Package
- £19.00
- Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 16:30
- Friday 08:00 – 13:30
- Robotics training and development opportunities
- External training investment
- Additional benefits to be confirmed
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business where automation plays a central role in manufacturing operations and where engineers are encouraged to develop their robotics and automation capability.
