This KS4 SEND Teaching Assistant role offers a full‑time, temporary to permanent opportunity starting in September 2026. The KS4 SEND Teaching Assistant will support pupils with additional needs within a Key Stage 4 setting, helping them access learning, develop independence, and prepare for adulthood outcomes. This role is ideal for a resilient and empathetic KS4 SEND Teaching Assistant who is passionate about inclusive education and supporting young people during a key stage of transition.
Duties as KS4 SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Support pupils with SEND within a Key Stage 4 classroom environment
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to help pupils access the curriculum
- Assist with differentiated learning activities tailored to individual needs
- Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
- Work closely with class teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams to follow individual support plans
- Support pupils during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times
- Encourage independence, confidence, and preparation for post‑16 pathways
- Observe and share information regarding pupil progress and well‑being
- Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
Ideal KS4 SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Experience supporting young people with SEND, ideally within Key Stage 4
- Understanding of inclusive practice and adolescent development
- Calm, patient, and consistent approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Flexible and responsive to individual needs
- Willingness to begin on a temporary basis with the opportunity to become permanent
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
