Job Description:

Available from 05 May 2026 to 05 November 2026

We’re passionate about making the countryside in Bedfordshire a better place for everyone to enjoy. As part of this our team of Planning Volunteers monitor planning applications and respond to any that impact on the countryside.

As admin volunteer, you’ll support our Planning Team Leaders in Bedford Borough and Central Bedfordshire with a range of tasks. Key to your role will be maintaining a record of our responses to planning applications, Appeals and their outcomes. We’d also like you to help arrange Zoom meetings and join us for some of our team meetings to take notes.

You will be confident using IT with a good working knowledge of Microsoft 365/Word/Excel and have good attention to detail and accurate inputting skills. A basic understanding of the planning system would be desirable or the ability to learn quickly.

You will be comfortable carrying out tasks independently and as part of a team and will work remotely most of the time. This role will require a time commitment of about 3-4 hours a week. Some meetings may be in the evening but otherwise the work is flexible. Most of the work can be done remotely but you may need to attend in person meetings from time to time.

We’ll support you in your role by providing an induction and relevant training and as part of our friendly team of staff and volunteers you can help make a difference to the countryside in Bedfordshire.
