Project Officer Unity in Diversity Programme Charity Jobs NI is delighted to be supporting First Steps Womens Centre in the recruitment of a Project Officer for its PEACEPLUS-funded Unity in Diversity Programme across Mid Ulster. About First Steps Womens Centre First Steps Womens Centre delivers services that support and empower local communities, with a strong focus on inclusion, participation and social impact. Through the Unity in Diversity Programme, the organisation is leading an important PEACEPLUS initiative designed to build understanding and respect for diversity, strengthen capacity within minority communities, challenge hate narratives through education and dialogue, and create sustainable integration pathways for migrant workers and refugees. The Role Reporting to the Programme Manager, the Project Officer will support the day-to-day delivery of the Unity in Diversity Programme across Mid Ulsters three main towns. Working closely with participants, partners and local communities, this person will help deliver meaningful activities that encourage connection, inclusion and intercultural understanding. The postholder will coordinate and support a range of programme activities, including dialogue circles, English language classes, cultural initiatives, community events, running and walking groups, and citizenship exam mentoring. The role will also involve engaging participants, responding to enquiries, maintaining accurate records, supporting monitoring and reporting requirements, assisting with communications and social media, and helping to build strong relationships with community, statutory, voluntary and faith-sector partners. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing a varied workload within a part-time schedule and will bring a strong understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in practice. Key Information Location Dungannon, with travel across Mid Ulster including Magherafelt and Cookstown. Hours 16 hours per week, flexible across 3 days. Salary £27,300 pro rata (£15.04 per hour). Contract Fixed-term to 31st March 2027, with possible extension. Key Responsibilities Support the delivery of programme activities across Mid Ulster, ensuring sessions and events are well organised and run smoothly. Engage with participants and communities to promote inclusion, participation and intercultural understanding. Liaise with facilitators, venues and partner organisations to coordinate activity delivery. Assist with participant recruitment and retention, with a particular focus on minority and marginalised groups. Maintain accurate records, attendance registers and organised filing systems in line with GDPR and funder requirements. Support progress reporting, monitoring returns and evaluation activity, including participant feedback, testimonials and case studies. Assist with communications, promotional materials and social media activity linked to the programme. Build and maintain positive working relationships with statutory, voluntary, community and faith-sector partners. Contribute to monitoring, evaluation and ongoing programme development. Essential Criteria A relevant degree in community development, training, education or a related field, or at least 3 years equivalent experience in a similar area. Demonstrable knowledge or experience of working with minority ethnic, migrant or refugee communities. Strong organisational and administrative skills, with excellent attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across diverse audiences. A good understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion principles. Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload within a part-time post. Competence in Microsoft Office applications and digital communication tools. Ability to utilise social media as part of community engagement and programme support. Access to transport and willingness to travel across Mid Ulster. Desirable Criteria Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation frameworks. A second language relevant to programme communities, such as Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Ukrainian, Arabic or Tetum. Experience using social media platforms for community engagement and outreach. Understanding of the Mid Ulster context and its diverse communities.
