This is a *London or Swindon* Hybrid based role with an excellent immediate start within a Public Sector organisation working on *Designing, building and optimising data pipelines and data platform components within AWS*
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Engineer with strong AWS Data Engineering expertise to support the development of a modern data platform and contribute to emerging AI-driven initiatives.
This role is ideal for someone with a solid background in AWS data engineering, Business Intelligence and analytics, combined with practical exposure to AI or Machine Learning technologies. The successful candidate will work across both operational support and the development of new data capabilities, helping to deliver scalable and modern data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and optimise data pipelines and data platform components within AWS
- Support and enhance Business Intelligence reporting and analytics capabilities
- Contribute to the development of a Data Lake and modern data architecture
- Work across both BAU support and new capability development
- Collaborate with wider teams on AI related initiatives and roadmap delivery
- Apply best practices around data quality, governance and performance optimisation
- Support the development of scalable and reliable cloud based data solutions
Core Technical Requirements
Strong hands on experience with:
- AWS Data Engineering services including Glue, S3, Lambda, Redshift and Athena
- Advanced SQL
- Python for data processing and pipeline development
- Infrastructure and tooling exposure such as Terraform, APIs and CI/CD
- Business Intelligence, analytics or reporting environments
- Data warehousing, analytics platforms and modern data architectures
AI/ML Exposure
Candidates should demonstrate practical exposure to AI or Machine Learning, including one or more of the following:
- Experience with cloud based AI services such as AWS Bedrock or similar
- Supporting AI enabled data products or workflows
- Understanding of Generative AI and prompt engineering concepts
- Exposure to Machine Learning pipelines
- Experience working alongside Data Science teams
This does not need to be a core specialism but should be evidenced through previous projects or practical experience.
Experience Required
- Typically 4 to 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Business Intelligence or Analytics roles
- Proven experience delivering AWS based data solutions
- Strong background in Data Warehousing, Analytics or Data Platform development
- Experience working in complex or regulated environments is advantageous
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of AWS AI services such as Bedrock
- Experience contributing to Data Lake or modern Data Platform implementations
- Exposure to DataOps and CI/CD practices
- Public Sector experience
Role Split

- Approximately 50% new capability development including Data Platform and AI initiatives
