The Data Engineer / Analyst is a hands‑on technical role within the Forensic Technology team, responsible for building and maintaining datapipelines, performing forensic data analysis, and developing reports and dashboards that support live client engagements.

Working under the direction of a senior analytics lead, you will use Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Python, PySpark, SQL, and Power BI to ingest and transform data from client systems, run automated forensic tests, and produce analytical outputs that are accurate, documented, and defensible.

This is a client‑facing role: you will attend client meetings, contribute to presentations, and explain your findings to investigators, lawyers, and non‑technical stakeholders. It is also a development role, you will receive structured training on the technology stack and build domain expertise in forensic analytics through direct engagement exposure, with a clear path to grow as the team expands.

This is a client‑facing technical role in a team that is being built from the ground up. You will work alongside senior analytics lead and forensic investigators, with direct exposure to live engagements from day one.

  • Building data pipelines on Microsoft Fabric and Databricks that ingest financial data from client systems and transform it into structured, analytical formats.
  • Running forensic analytics including automated red flag testing, transaction analysis, and anomaly detection across financial data.
  • Building Power BI reports and dashboards that present forensic findings to investigators, lawyers, and clients.
  • Leading the strategy to leverage and integrate AI into process and output.
  • Writing and optimising SQL queries and Python scripts for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Documenting your analytical methods, assumptions, and data sources to a standard suitable for legal and regulatory proceedings.
  • Contributing to client meetings and presentations explaining your work and findings to non‑technical audiences.
  • Developing domain expertise in forensic analytics through engagement exposure and structured training.
  • Collaborating with analytics professionals across the wider Consulting practice through a community of practice.

What we are looking for:

To be considered for this opportunity, your qualifications, skills and experience should include:

  • SQL/SparkSQL comfortable writing queries, joins, and aggregations without supervision.
  • Working knowledge of Python for data manipulation and scripting.
  • Experience with Power BI or similar reporting and visualisation tools.
  • Foundational understanding of data modelling and ETL/ELT concepts.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, and/or Databricks.
  • Experience with Alteryx is useful but not essential.
  • 2+ years’ experience in data engineering, data analysis, or a related role.
  • Careful attention to detail, forensic analytics outputs may be used in legal or regulatory proceedings.
  • Clear communicator, comfortable contributing to client meetings and explaining technical work to non‑technical colleagues.
