Estates Maintenance Technician
Location: Alresford, Hampshire
Shift pattern: Rotating shift pattern. Earlies (7:30 – 15:30) & Lates (14:30 – 22:30). One weekend in four on rota.

The Estates Team plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of multiple school sites, supporting both the day‑to‑day running of the schools and wider community activities.
As an Estates Maintenance Technician, you’ll work across several sites carrying out a wide range of maintenance and caretaking duties. Working as part of a close‑knit estates team and reporting to the Deputy Estates Manager, you’ll support the upkeep, repair, and presentation of buildings and grounds, alongside helping maintain a safe and compliant environment for all users of the site.
The role would suit an individual coming from a similar estates, caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or site support background, or be a highly practical individual with strong all‑round DIY abilities and a proactive attitude looking for a long‑term opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Carry out general maintenance and repair work including painting, decorating, carpentry, fencing repairs, and minor grounds maintenance.
- Provide reactive and preventative maintenance across multiple school sites.
- Assist with health and safety compliance checks including fire safety, asbestos awareness, legionella monitoring, and risk reporting.
- Work a rotating shift pattern including early, daytime, and late shifts, with one weekend in four on rota.
Qualifications
- Strong practical DIY and maintenance skills.
- Experience within estates, facilities, caretaking, maintenance, or a similar hands‑on environment beneficial.
- Comfortable using tools, equipment, and carrying out physical tasks.
- Reliable, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible and adaptable regarding shifts and occasional weekend working.
