About Global MapAid
Global MapAid (“MapAid”) is a non‑profit organization focused on improving food supply, clean drinking water, and irrigation for small farmers in Africa, starting with Ethiopia’s 47 million small farmers. Our method is to co‑create an Artificial Intelligence “WellMapr” in Ethiopia to map shallow groundwater, helping specialists identify drilling sites and optimize resources.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Business Development Manager familiar with the USA who is passionate and can dedicate at least 2 days per week to build funding for our Ethiopia work and create a small US volunteer team. This is an unpaid, volunteer role.
Goals
- Goal One: Create and execute a fundraising plan for MapAid.
- Goal Two: Support funding initiatives for a local partner in Ethiopia, who is digitizing data vital to our AI system.
- Goal Three: Build a small volunteer team (lawyer, marketer, grants writer) to share the load.
Responsibilities
- Fundraising – write and execute a plan, open to professional input.
- Flexibility – support MapAid and the Ethiopian partner.
- Miscellaneous – prepare for evolving role.
- Collaboration – work with board, fundraising and program teams.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and verbal communication.
- Experience managing administration.
- Networker and public speaker.
- Past business development experience.
- Useful book of contacts.
- Passion for bringing water to small farmers and for Africa.
- Age and retiree status not a barrier.
