About Us
The Financial Assessment Team is responsible for carrying out the means tested assessments to determine how much a person is expected to contribute towards their care services. We cover the whole of the county and work closely with our colleagues in the Adult Social Care Teams and the Income Team. The work is fast‑paced, high‑volume and varied. Some assessments are straight‑forward whereas others can be more complex requiring a lot of time and investigation.
About The Role
We are recruiting for two temporary positions – a one‑year maternity cover and a six‑month secondment cover. The Assessment Officer role is responsible for the accurate and timely completion of the financial assessments for Adult Social Care and Children’s Social Care. The role also involves dealing with all incoming queries relating to financial assessments and invoices and working closely with colleagues in different teams to ensure the information flows through the system efficiently so the charges are accurate.
About You
You will be enthusiastic and willing to join the Financial Assessment Team to complete the financial assessments in a timely manner whilst maintaining accuracy. You will manage your time effectively to meet demanding targets, resolve complex queries, and deal with people who are in difficult situations. This requires excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm and professional.

It is true that every single job role contributes to bettering the lives of the people in our county – we want to do this for our employees too. We are proud of our strong flexible working culture, including the opportunity for flexibility on working hours and the use of technology to support agile working. We offer some of the best learning and development opportunities to support your ongoing development.
We have a generous holiday allowance, which rises as you remain in employment with us, up to 32 days, and you also have the option to buy additional holiday. You will have access to a Local Government Pension Scheme with employer contributions of up to 19.9% of your salary, a range of local and national retail discounts, and a host of enhanced family‑friendly policies including carers leave and paid time off for volunteering.
