Job Description:

Salary: £27,319 per annum, progressing to £28,778.

Role Overview

Engagement Assistant – support student engagement, careers and employability programme, combining marketing, customer service and administrative responsibilities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the running and delivery of employability and external engagement events, including employer sessions, workshops and networking activities.
  • Act as the first point of contact for all students in the dedicated Career Hub.
  • Capture, produce and post consistent engaging content across social media platforms.
  • Support the planning and delivery of specific projects, maintain accurate records and administrative systems.
  • Manage the Career Hub space, ensuring organisation and presentation, and maintain physical and digital careers resources.
  • Support the Engagement Coordinator in creating student communication materials and maintain the Employability Virtual Learning Environment (Canvas).
  • Oversee the shared email inbox, ensuring timely responses and escalation of complex queries.
  • Any other duties within the scope of the grade.

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Experience in an administrative or customer-facing role.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Desirable

  • Experience working in higher education or careers environment.
  • Familiarity with event coordination.
  • Experience in information, advice and guidance (IAG).
  • Experience with a CRM system.

Qualifications

  • Grades 4‑9 (A‑C) in English Language and Mathematics at GCSE (or equivalent).

Location & Working Arrangements

Newcastle University Business School, Newcastle City Centre. Full‑time, open‑ended post; blended working arrangements possible but primarily onsite during teaching periods.
