Named Nurse/Professional – Safeguarding Adults

The South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust are looking to recruit an experienced Safeguarding Nurse/Professional to join the Safeguarding Team. They will need to be enthusiastic , energetic and passionate about safeguarding in line with the Trust’s Think Family approach and have experience of working with adults and children
The post holder will expected to have an in depth knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and Domestic Abuse Act 2021
The post holder will be expected to work across South Warwickshire University Foundation NHS Trust and the George Elliot Hospital
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work collaboratively with the Safeguarding Team, and other agencies to ensure that the organisation meets its safeguarding adult’s responsibilities and those adults with care and support needs are effectively safeguarded.
The post holder will provide expert advice, support, training and safeguarding adult supervision to health staff across the organisation.
The post holder will contribute to effective multi-agency partnership working arrangements for safeguarding adults with care and support needs.

Job responsibilities
Main Functions:
To ensure that Local Safeguarding Adult Board and West Midlands Policy and procedures, internal health procedures are known, understood and followed by Trust staff.
To provide leadership, expert advice and support on safeguarding adult matters to all health professionals. This includes:
To offer guidance, advice support and supervision of safeguarding adults to all staff involved in adult safeguarding work.
To support and empower staff to contribute autonomously to safeguarding adult meetings
The planning, delivery and evaluation of safeguarding adults and children training for staff across the Trust in conjunction with Local Safeguarding Adult and Children Boards and the Trust Learning and Development Unit.
Disseminate and lead on Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) across the Trust to ensure that there is a clear understanding of capacity and how this can impact on safeguarding functions.
Ensure appropriate processes in place to monitor Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) and monitor and support notification compliance to Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG).
Lead on and act as an expert for the Trust on the Mental Health Act (2005) ensuring policies and procedures are in place to ensure compliance with the act.
To support the Trust in its responsibilities towards safeguarding adults in line with legislation and current government policy. This includes participation in multi-agency learning and improvement frameworks through the writing of scoping and independent management reports for Safeguarding Adult Reviews and Domestic Homicide Reviews..
The provision of reports to the Trust Corporate Governance team and Trust Safeguarding Operational Group as required.
To work effectively within an adult and childrens safeguarding team to promote the Think Family model across the Trust
To implement local recommendations on practice arising from Safeguarding Adult Reviews, Safeguarding Childrens Reviews and Domestic Homicide Reviews.
To build effective key relationships with the Designated and Named Health professionals across the health economy and to work in partnership with other agencies involved with protecting adults and children.
To work collaboratively with partner agencies, including the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), in safeguarding adults and children and their carers who may be subject to domestic abuse.
To adhere at all times to the principles of Information Sharing to safeguard children and adults.
To lead and participate in clinical audit as required both nationally and via trust audit programmes and through the Local Safeguarding Adult Board.
Line Management Responsibilities:
To provide leadership to colleagues within the Safeguarding Team administrative and secretarial staff, and guide on specific areas of work, as required.
Person Specification
Qualification
- RN/ RMHN/ /Specialist Community Public health Nurse/ Social Worker or equivalent experience
- Teaching qualification or equivalent experience.
Experience
- Experience of working with adults with care and support needs
- Experience of complex safeguarding work
- Experience of working within a safeguarding team
- Experience of managing own workload
- Experience of working autonomously
Skills
- Must have excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral, written communication report writing and presentation skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate ability to work confidently in a multi-agency environment.
- Must demonstrate effective concise and clear decision making skills that empower and support staff.
- Must be able to work autonomously
- Must demonstrate effective training skills, be able to prepare deliver and evaluate training relating to safeguarding adults and families.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of Clinical Governance Framework.
- Evidence of continued professional development in safeguarding adults and associated risk assessments.
- Understanding of current legislation and guidance relating to safeguarding adults and the Think family agenda.
- Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the need for confidentiality in all aspects of the work of the department.
- Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of equal opportunities.
- Must be able to demonstrate experience in providing safeguarding supervision.
- Must be IT literate with an ability to navigate numerous systems or be prepared to undertake training
