Work Eligibility

PVG Scheme Membership
Post holders must have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e., child and/or adult), an application to Disclosure Scotland is required and must be deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
Role Overview
An experienced Pharmacy Technician will work in the Central Services Team to provide a range of services to practice‑based pharmacy teams across 121 GP practices and support 180 community pharmacies. Key services include prescribing data reporting and analysis, management of medicine shortages, maintenance of prescribing IT systems such as Scriptswitch, and authorisation to community pharmacy for the procurement of unlicensed medicines.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide prescribing data reporting and analysis to practice‑based pharmacy teams.
- Manage medicines shortages and support the Scriptswitch prescribing IT system.
- Maintain prescribing IT systems, including Scriptswitch.
- Authorise community pharmacies for the procurement of unlicensed medicines.
- Support the training and supervision of other members of Central Services and the wider primary care pharmacy team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Pharmacy Services Development and Management, or equivalent professional experience.
- Currently registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Application requires completion of a Mapping Assessment Form and a Portfolio of Evidence if equivalent experience replaces the HNC qualification.
