We are seeking a Senior Insights Analyst to join the Portfolio Solutions Analytics team, supporting Delegated Authority, Digital business and other Portfolio Solutions initiatives. In this role, you will deliver data, analytics and reporting solutions that meet the team’s high standards. You will help promote the consistent use of analytics and drive higher-quality, more detailed analytical insight across the area.
The Senior Insights Analyst will champion proactive engagement with stakeholders and work closely with the Analytics Manager to maintain clear, ongoing communication across the team.
A key focus of the role is deep engagement with business stakeholders to enable data-driven decision-making. Responsibilities include requirements gathering, stakeholder liaison with Underwriting, the DA Management Team and Actuarial, designing and delivering high-quality reporting and analytics, and resolving complex data queries.
You will help evolve the service by identifying new data sources, surfacing actionable trends and insights, and evaluating advanced techniques to support business objectives.
You will manage workload and coordinate delivery in line with business expectations, balancing routine requests with longer-term initiatives. Duties will be split between analysing and interpreting data, identifying and communicating trends, developing reporting and dashboard solutions where needed, and contributing to projects, ad-hoc analysis and data improvement activities. The role will also support the adoption of new analytical approaches and AI-enabled tools to improve insight generation, efficiency and business decision-making.

- Act as a primary MI contact for DAP Underwriting, the DA Management Team, Actuarial and related IBU teams, providing subject‑matter expertise and business context.
- Deliver complex ad‑hoc analyses and enquiries with accuracy and timely turnaround, translating findings into clear and actionable business insight.
- Advocate for the use of MI across Delegated Authority, Digital and underwriting teams, raising the profile and demonstrating the value of data‑driven insight.
- Evaluate new tools, software and analytical approaches, including AI‑enabled and advanced analytics techniques where appropriate, to improve insight generation, MI capability and efficiency.
- Identify and assess new internal and external data sources to enrich reporting and analytical outputs.
- Promote a data‑driven decision culture within LSM by developing and delivering training, guidance and knowledge transfer to stakeholders.
- Produce clear, concise and actionable insight that explains business activity, trends, risks and opportunities.
- Manage workload and delivery expectations in coordination with Underwriting, the DA Management Team and Actuarial stakeholders; balance reactive requests with strategic improvements and projects.
- Undertake other reasonable duties as requested to support team and business objectives.
- Maintain full compliance with all relevant regulatory and internal requirements, demonstrating the behaviours set out in the Conduct Risk Policy. This includes adherence to Solvency II, fair treatment of customers, Financial Crime prevention, Data Protection, Conflicts of Interest and Whistleblowing procedures.
Skills and Experience
- Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship‑management skills, with the ability to influence across multiple levels of the business.
- Strong team‑oriented approach with demonstrable experience supporting colleagues.
- Good understanding of insurance underwriting (or broking) processes and the data needs that support underwriting decisions.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong experience using Power BI and other analytical tools to deliver high‑quality reporting and insight.
- Strong business analysis skills, able to translate complex data into clear insights and recommendations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to interact effectively with clients and colleagues to gather requirements and explain analytical outcomes.
- Significant and relevant work experience in a similar analytics role within the insurance sector.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and experience writing and optimising SQL queries.
- Self‑starter who shows initiative, can prioritise stakeholder demands, and manage competing deadlines.
- Proficient at extracting, manipulating and analysing data from databases and IT systems to produce robust MI and decision‑support outputs.
- Experience with other Microsoft Power Platform tools (Power Automate, Power Apps).
- Exposure to AI‑enabled analytical tools or advanced analytics techniques, including Python, R or equivalent where relevant.
- Experience working in an MI/insights team or supporting MI delivery standards.
- Understanding of Delegated Authority business and associated bordereaux data and reporting processes.
