Responsibilities
- Lead a team to produce technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements.
- Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy overarching criteria of quality, cost and programme.
- Oversee the actions of junior staff undertaking similar tasks and take responsibility for their actions.
- Manage the commercial success of projects within the portfolio, controlling budgets and managing the costs associated with the production of deliverables.
- Liaise with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings and responding to queries.
- Contribute to bid preparation and the general work‑winning function.
- Drive effective health and safety practices within the team.
Qualifications
- Developed experience and expertise within the Highways/Civil engineering field, probably gained in an Engineer role or equivalent.
- Comprehensive knowledge of design processes and procedures relevant to the civil engineering discipline.
- Ability to produce or oversee the production of technically sound Highways engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements.
- Experience in project‑related tasks associated with health, safety and welfare, e.g., Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
- Successful completion of the initial professional development leading to either Incorporated or Chartered status or an equivalent professional licence and to the level defined by their education.
- Demonstrable commitment to the plan of actions and key dates leading to successful completion of either the professional review or end‑point assessment, resulting in the award of Incorporated or Chartered status or an equivalent professional licence.
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning.
