The Role
As a Healthcare Support Worker within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate, person-centred care to patients within our Older People and Stroke Rehabilitation & Assessment services. Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will assist registered nurses to ensure patients receive safe, effective and dignified care throughout their hospital journey.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
Duration: Permanent
Location: Royal Alexandra Hospital
Hours: 35.5 Hours (Shift Pattern – Monday-Sunday)
Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with personal care, including hygiene, dressing and mobility needs
- Support patients with nutritional and fluid intake as required or prescribed
- Observe and report any changes in patient condition to the registered nurse
- Assist with admission, transfer and discharge processes in line with procedures
- Undertake basic clinical tasks such as urinalysis and specimen collection
- Maintain accurate patient records, including charts and care documentation
- Ensure clinical areas, equipment and supplies are clean, safe and well-maintained
Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience
- Good standard of general education
- Strong verbal communication skills with a caring and respectful approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to delivering high standards of patient care
- Willingness to learn and develop within a clinical environment
- Understanding of basic health and safety principles in a care setting
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision within established procedures
