The Role And Responsibilities
Step into a role where your work genuinely matters. As a Cyber Specialist in the Digital, Data and Technology Directorate, you’ll be at the heart of strengthening TPR’s cyber posture and driving real, visible improvements across our entire technology estate.
This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role for someone who thrives on solving complex security challenges, shaping best practice, and influencing how an organisation evolves its cyber maturity.
We’re looking for someone with strong capability across cyber and infrastructure security, with real depth in Microsoft Azure and a preference for experience using Tenable. We are open to people with different levels of experience, and if you’re passionate about modern security engineering and want to directly contribute to organisation‑wide uplift, this is the opportunity to do it.
Primary Focus Areas Will Include
- Vulnerability Remediation with Tenable.
- Optimisation of Sentinel instances across the TPR estate.
- Integration between Sentinel and Defender to the current MS best practice.
- Support the Delivery Lead with meeting the requirements of the Cyber Improvement Programme.
- Working with the other IT Operations teams to ensure minimal disruption through effective planning.
The role criteria
- Lead vulnerability remediation activities using Tenable, ensuring risks are identified and addressed swiftly and effectively.
- Optimise and enhance Sentinel deployments across the TPR estate, improving detection, automation, and operational efficiency.
- Strengthen integration between Microsoft Sentinel and Defender, ensuring alignment with current Microsoft best practices.
- Provide expert technical insight to support the Delivery Lead in achieving programme goals and milestones.
- Collaborate with IT Operations teams to plan and deliver changes with minimal disruption and maximum value.
You’ll help shape the foundation of our cyber capabilities, making a tangible difference to how we protect our organisation, our systems, and our users.

- Prioritise and execute tasks effectively, ensuring alignment with programme timelines and strategic goals.
- Become a technical authority, providing trusted subject matter expertise across cyber and infrastructure security.
- Bring curiosity, collaboration, and a proactive approach to improving our security posture.
- Hands‑on experience in remediating security vulnerabilities with Tenable.
- Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Sentinel including configuration, reporting, and upgrades.
- Strong understanding of SOAR playbook development and automation.
- Ability to manage multiple simultaneous initiatives effectively.
- Proficiency in KQL, Azure Logic Apps, and Microsoft Defender suite.
- Knowledge of MS Azure and Networking.
- Analytical mindset with experience in data‑driven security planning.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
