Role Overview
Our JAG accredited Endoscopy service, based at Furness General Hospital, is looking to recruit Band 5 Nurses to join our established, motivated and friendly team. Endoscopy services are predominantly nurse‑led, from admission to discharge, and require a high degree of autonomy.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Surgeons, Gastroenterologists, Respiratory Consultants and Nurse Endoscopists with a range of specialised and technical procedures.
- Support patients from admission through to discharge within the Endoscopy service.
- Work in close partnership with colleagues to ensure the unit meets JAG requirements.
- Participate in audit and governance activities to maintain and improve standards.
- Document and communicate accurately with the team and patients.
Qualifications
- Qualified registered nurse (Band 5). Newly qualified nurses are welcome to apply.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong interest in, and willingness to learn, endoscopic practice.
- Capacity for autonomous work and decision making.
- Willingness to work across multiple hospital sites and community locations.
Work Settings
- Furness General Hospital (FGH), Barrow.
- Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI).
- Westmorland General Hospital (WGH), Kendal.
- Community locations including Millom Hospital, GP practice, Queen Victoria Hospital (Morecambe) and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

We provide a structured induction and preceptorship programme. The endoscopy team offers opportunities for training and career development, including progression to specialist roles such as Nurse Endoscopist and Bowel Cancer Screening Nurse.
