Engineering / Design Technician
Job Introduction
Based from our clients Head Office in Morley, the ideal candidates will live within commutable distance of Leeds and have qualifications including BTEC/HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or other relevant subject area, OR a Degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering BEng, MEng, BSc, Msc etc or equivalent.
In this role, you will be part of the Major Projects Design Team, creating and developing temporary works solutions and preparing high quality design documentation that both assist and enhance the output across the entire department.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing tender proposals, preliminary and construction stage designs in a timely manner, in accordance with approved codes of practice and legislation
- Producing design drawings using Autodesk Revit
- Following the Technical department procedures to ensure a smooth design process;
- Liaising and collaborating with customers, Hire Desk, Sales and Operation teams to ensure successful project delivery within time and budget constraints
- Working closely with the other technical teams to assist with the workload as required
- Providing support and guidance to other team members and developing systems/processes that maintain consistency throughout
- Undertaking specific project work as required and being able to manage own workload and time effectively
- Communicating effectively and contributing proactively in meetings and discussions
- Leading on innovation and taking responsibility for developing best practices for new ways of working.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualifications: BTEC/HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or other relevant subject area OR a Degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering BEng, MEng, BSc, Msc etc or equivalent.
- Experienced user of Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, MS Office
- Understanding or appreciation of structural analysis software (CADS A3D MAX, Tekla Tedds, Robot, SAP2000 etc.), Dynamo, Python etc. is desirable.
- Solving problems is your passion; you like to create and produce accurate work and take a pride in what you do. You are a team player, keen to support other team members and to drive forward continuous improvements using your own ideas to improve the quality of drawing and design packages.
- Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within the construction industry; the specifics of the job role is flexible and will depend upon experience and qualifications.
- Knowledge of Groundforce product range or experience with the use and/or configuration of similar proprietary products is desirable.
- Member of ICE or working towards professional qualification is desirable.
