PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT PLAN MANAGER

THE ROLE: The Performance Improvement Plan Manager is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and monitoring of performance improvement plans within ScotRail.
The primary purpose of this role involves working closely with various departments to ensure continuous improvement, meeting organisational goals, and enhancing operation performance, working directly alongside the Performance Improvement Delivery Manager to achieve this. The manager will forecast improvements, manage administrative tasks during meetings, and review performance data to drive strategic initiatives.
THE PERSON:
Monitor Performance Improvement Plans:
•Develop and implement performance improvement plans in collaboration with department leads, working with the Performance Improvement Delivery Manager to ensure that frontline teams are fully engaged in the delivery of these plans.
•Track the progress of improvement initiatives and ensure alignment with organisational goals.
•Identify potential issues and intervene with corrective actions to keep projects and performance on track.
Performance Data Review:
•Collect, analyse, and interpret performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
•Prepare comprehensive reports and dashboards for leadership teams.
•Utilise data to forecast future performance improvements and risks and inform strategic decision-making.
Forecast Improvement:
•Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of implemented strategies.
•Provide recommendations to Subsector Taskforces based on data-driven insights to
enhance performance.
Administrative Duties:
•Organise and facilitate regular performance improvement meetings.
•Prepare agendas, document minutes, and follow up on action items.
•Ensure all documentation and records related to performance improvement plans are accurately maintained and accessible.
•Line management of the Performance Improvement Analyst
•Deputise for the Head of Performance if required
Collaboration and Communication:
•Working with the Performance Improvement Delivery Manager, serve as the primary liaison between the performance and other departments regarding performance improvement.
•Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure understanding and buy-in for improvement initiatives.
•Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence throughout the organisation.
•Provide each Subsector Taskforce with the necessary support to ensure engagement with Performance Improvement activities being undertaken
•Involvement in cross industry forums looking to improve performance
•In tandem with the Performance Improvement Plan Manager, lead on PIMS and RM3P activities for ScotRail and engage with industry wide forums on these matters
Project Management:
•Apply project management principles to oversee multiple performance improvement projects simultaneously.
•Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
* Experience in performance improvement, project management, or a related role. Experience within a PMO environment is desirable.
* Previous railway industry experience desirable but not essential

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency in performance management software and data analysis tools.
* Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.

* Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.

Hours of work: 35 hours per week. Reference Salary: £50k – £56k per annum.
