We combine customer impact with retail invention, solving huge technical challenges along the way. We are looking for a Senior Economist to drive innovation in Amazon’s retail supply chain and help solve key business problems in operations.In this role, you will leverage state-of-the-art econometric methods to guide billion-dollar investment decisions in Amazon Brazil. You will own, execute, and expand a research roadmap that connects science, business, and engineering and contributes to Amazon’s long-term success. You’ll build econometric models using our world-class data systems and apply economic theory to solve business problems in a fast-moving environment. Economists at Amazon develop novel approaches to processing large data sets, solving quantitative problems, and contributing to the design of automated systems across the company.To be successful in this role, you’ll need to communicate effectively, work closely with stakeholders across CFX and our partner teams, and translate data-driven findings into actionable insights. You’ll thrive if you enjoy tackling ambiguous challenges using the economics toolkit and identifying and solving problems at scale. Key job responsibilities
- Lead data-driven econometric studies to create future business opportunities
- Consult with stakeholders in Customer Fulfillment Experience and other teams to help solve existing business challenges
- Independently identify and pursue new opportunities to leverage economic insights
- Advise senior leaders and collaborate with other scientists to drive innovation
- Support innovative delivery program growth worldwide
- Write business and technical documents communicating business context, methods, and results to business leadership and other scientists
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– PhD in economics or equivalent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Experience in analytics and applied economics.– Experience in developing and executing an analytic vision to solve business-relevant problems.– Experience in building statistical models using R, Python, STATA, or a related software.– Experience in industry, consulting, government or academic research.
