Associate Director at Baker Charles – Accounting and Finance Recruiter for Commerce and Industry

A leading international listed business is seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Lead to take ownership of a high-profile project involving a significant M&A transaction and a complete overhaul of its external financial reporting. This is an exciting interim opportunity to shape and influence the reporting processes of a large, complex, and fast-moving organisation.
In this role, you will serve as the Group’s financial reporting specialist, responsible for designing and implementing robust, best-in-class reporting processes and accounting policies. You will play a key role in ensuring the Group is fully prepared for half-year reporting, while also supporting the technical accounting aspects of a major M&A transaction. A critical part of your role will be driving consistency across accounting practices and ensuring compliance with IFRS and UK listing requirements.
You will lead the Group’s half-year external reporting process, taking ownership of improvements to reporting systems and controls. The role will require the preparation of high-quality consolidated financial statements, covering areas such as SOCIE, cash flow statement, pensions, EPS, and share-based payments. As the Group’s technical accounting expert, you will be expected to provide advice on complex accounting issues and commercial implications.
You will be responsible for updating and maintaining the Group Accounting Manual, ensuring that accounting policies are relevant, robust, and applied consistently across the organisation. In addition, you will prepare technical papers for the Audit Committee, liaise with external auditors, and deliver training and support to finance teams across multiple international jurisdictions. Ultimately, your work will ensure the Group’s reporting is timely, accurate, and aligned with best practices for a UK-listed multinational business.
We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) who has significant experience working in FTSE-listed, multi-currency, and international reporting environments. You will need strong technical expertise in IFRS and public company reporting standards, along with a proven track record of leading complex group close processes and delivering reporting improvements under tight deadlines.
Excellent stakeholder management skills are essential, as you will be working closely with senior leadership across finance and the wider business. The successful candidate will be analytical, proactive, and commercially astute, with a strong sense of ownership and delivery. You should also be comfortable operating in a fast-changing, global environment and able to influence decisions across a broad stakeholder group.
