The opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Commercial Director to lead all our efforts to bring in revenue. This is a key leadership role where you’ll create and run the plan for sales, account management, and partnerships to help us grow.

You’ll be vital in growing Standard Innovation. You’ll expand our reach and make sure everything we do commercially fits with our expertise in our core services. You’ll build and lead good teams focused on finding new clients and keeping the ones we have happy for the long term.

What you’ll do

  • Create and manage a clear plan to grow revenue, focusing on our core services
  • Lead sales – find opportunities, manage the process, and close deals. This involves selling complex services where we act as expert advisors. Set clear sales targets and be accountable for them
  • Lead the team that looks after our clients. Make sure clients are happy, projects go well (working with the delivery teams), and that clients stay with us
  • Build, guide, and manage strong sales and account management teams. Create a team environment where people work together, take ownership, and always look to improve
  • Set up clear ways to forecast sales, track progress, and report on results. Use data to understand what’s working and how to improve
  • Find new markets and types of clients. Work with other leaders to clearly explain the value we bring and position Standard Innovation as experts
  • Work closely with the CEO, tech leads, finance, and marketing so that our revenue plans, service delivery and marketing messages all make sense together
  • Manage pricing and negotiate contracts to make us profitable while still giving clients great value
  • Find and build relationships with other companies that can help us reach more clients or offer better services

What you’ll bring:

  • At least 15 years working in B2B sales and account management, including time in senior leadership roles
  • A clear history of hitting and beating tough revenue targets, growing businesses, and keeping customers happy in a B2B setting
  • Strong experience with and understanding of our core services. You need to be comfortable talking about this tech and what it means for businesses
  • You must have worked in a professional services and/or tech consulting business – you need to know how to sell and manage this kind of work
  • Great leadership skills. Be experienced in or be ready to grow and manage successful sales and account teams
  • Good at planning, analysing information, and solving problems. Can turn market knowledge into practical plans
  • Skilled in putting together complex deals and negotiating contracts for professional services work
  • Excellent at talking, writing, and presenting. Able to connect well with senior leaders inside and outside the company
  • Existing relationships and network in relevant industries that will get you and the team ramped quickly
