About the Company:
This is an exciting role for an individual to help a small but well-established company that is highly regarded in its field take its finance function to the next level. Founded 13 years ago, recent variations in headcount and revenue mean that the company has outgrown its current financial reporting structure, and following an external review is now implementing a new model to improve forecasting, reporting accuracy and commercial skills.
About the Role:
This is a new role reporting into the CFO and working with the wider business to improve reporting & forecasting processes and data accuracy as well as assisting with invoicing and collection of payments / credit control. Since the CFO works part time (3 days/week), the role requires an individual who has enough experience and personality to work independently, but who is also prepared to get into the detail and support the business as required. This is a hybrid role with remote working available, however the successful candidate will be expected to be in the office for at least three days each week.
Responsibilities:
- Day to day ownership of the finance function under the guidance of the CFO: management accounts reporting, cashflow, cost and credit control, invoicing, forecasting revenue from pipeline, payroll, ad-hoc data requests and analyses, chasing and reviewing time sheets and project reconciliations, review of fee estimates for pitches.
- Assist in the implementation of new financial controls and training based on recommendations made in a recently produced external report on the company’s financial & commercial processes.
- Work alongside senior consultants and researchers to support the CFO in developing bids/proposals.
- Work with senior management and the CFO to prepare annual budgets and quarterly re-forecasts.
Required Skills:
- Strong finance-based analytical skills.
- Experience of working with senior management in a finance and/or commercial role.
- Experience of working in a company finance function.
- Experience of preparing and reconciling fees based on hourly / daily rates.
