Graduate Engineer

Responsibilities

• Construct, maintain, operate and meticulously test complex ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems and chambers, including performing precision tasks such as cleaning, coating, baking and sealing of vacuum systems.
• Operate, manage, and maintain in-house vacuum systems and supporting equipment capabilities, including complex equipment.
• Identify technical and operational risks, proposing and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
• Create detailed documentation, reports, and presentations to communicate project progress, findings, and developments.

Background and qualifications

• Applicant is expected to have completed education to a level of Bachelor’s degree in physics, engineering, or a related field ideally with a placement year or industry experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in building, assembling, or prototyping mechanical or electromechanical systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, analyse, and resolve technical and operational issues in high-stakes environments.
