Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Salary: Up to £400 per day (outside IR35, dependent on experience)
Location: Manchester (M32 0RS) – hybrid, minimum 3 days per week in office
Type: Contract
About the Role:
Our client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to support ongoing projects within the UK regulated water industry. You’ll be working on various UMON projects at Sewage Treatment Works, collaborating closely with a dynamic engineering design team.

Our client is a well-established engineering design consultancy working across the UK rail and utilities sectors, with a growing focus on the water industry. They pride themselves on a friendly, focused culture and a genuine commitment to staff wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver detailed mechanical design work for UK water sector projects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to achieve project goals.
- Ensure design compliance with relevant UK standards and regulations.
- Support project delivery from concept through to detailed design and implementation.
What Our Client is Looking For:
- Proven experience delivering mechanical design for the UKregulated water industry.
- Strong technical understanding of sewage treatment or related utility infrastructure.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a design team.
- Available to work from the Manchester office at least 3 days per week.
