Overview

Senior Mechanical Engineer (Client Side) – NUVIA, Bridgwater, United Kingdom

Location: Hinkley Point C, Nr Bridgwater, Somerset. Hybrid work arrangement: 3 days per week in the office, 2 days at home. 40 hours per week. Permanent role.

Responsibilities

  • Produce technical reviews recommending procurement of spare parts for mechanical, electrical and I&C equipment.
  • Present technical reviews to stakeholders to seek endorsement.
  • Ensure alignment with commissioning and maintenance program needs.
  • Manage project phase equipment obsolescence.
  • Develop initial engineering solutions and recommend procurement of components.
  • Deliver and develop processes for how we will conduct business in the project phase and in plant operation.
  • Own the procurement of Strategic Spares, producing technical reports recommending strategic spares based on ODC guidance.
  • Provide oversight during manufacturing by attending works such as FATs and RRMs.
  • Support delivery and storage arrangements for strategic spares.
  • Manage the standardised spares list, ensuring spares are delivered in line with commissioning and maintenance need dates.
  • Maintain interfaces and develop technical & functional relationships with other HPC departments, EPR Family Stations, and EDF Energy’s Nuclear Business.
  • Research operating experience from wider industries applicable to the HPC project and promote its use to enhance HPC performance.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Process Engineering or similar field; 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Previous background in the nuclear industry is essential.
  • Ability for occasional travel to supplier and client facilities.
  • Driven and self-motivated; you will be supported but will rapidly take on responsibility in different areas.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Excel.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, reports and information from various data sources.
  • Ability to develop and follow procedures.
  • Experience of working in a project environment.
  • Experience dealing with a wide range of suppliers and customers (UK based and international).
  • Excellent report writing skills (Technical Business Cases).
  • BPSS clearance will be required at basic level; prior clearance will not be transferable.
