Our client, a leading multi-disciplinary engineering design consultancy, is establishing a new satellite office in the South East and is seeking an experienced Head of Water / Regional Water Engineering Lead to build, lead, and grow a high-performing multidisciplinary water design team.

This is a senior leadership opportunity, suitable for candidates seeking either a permanent role or an Outside IR35 contract, offering genuine influence over team structure, culture, and delivery.

Base pay range

Salary Guide: £80,000+ (DOE)

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and develop a South East water design office
• Build, lead, and grow a multidisciplinary design team
• Identify, attract, and retain high-calibre engineering and management talent
• Mentor and develop team members, fostering a positive and collaborative culture
• Plan and scale the team in line with strategic business objectives
• Ensure all design deliverables meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
• Drive integrated, compliant, and timely design outputs
• Promote best practice, appropriate software tools, and effective design processes
• Manage design change control and maintain accurate project documentation

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 10+ years’ experience within a regulated engineering environment
• Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and complex projects
• Degree or HND in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or actively working towards chartership
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Strong IT and digital design capability
• Significant experience within the regulated water sector
• Experience establishing or growing new teams or satellite offices
