Mechanical Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Create and develop 3D and 2D CAD designs for manufacturing (using SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
• Take ownership of designs from initial concept through prototyping and into full production.
• Design precision parts and assemblies with a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and how products are manufactured.
• Provide technical input and guidance to cross‑functional departments including QA, assembly, and purchasing.
• Collaborate closely with shop floor and production teams to ensure manufacturability and efficiency.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., milling, turning, bonding, moulding, assembly, jigs, and fixtures).
• Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, CREO or similar).
• Excellent communication skills; able to engage with both internal teams and external clients to gather and translate requirements.
• Prior exposure to or appreciation of hands‑on manufacturing processes is highly advantageous.
• Background in manufacturing with a transition into mechanical design is ideal.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, you’ll enjoy a high level of autonomy and exposure to specialist design challenges. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in a hands‑on environment and is passionate about seeing their designs brought to life.
