A leading global construction and consultancy firm—renowned for delivering some of the most complex and high-profile projects across sectors such as healthcare, life sciences, infrastructure, and commercial—currently seeks an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer.

This role will be responsible for leading the mechanical package on a large-scale Research and Testing Facility based in Oxfordshire, which is currently in pre‑construction and scheduled for completion in mid‑2027.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead delivery of the mechanical scope, working closely with internal teams and coordinating with other disciplines and subcontractors.
  • Manage mechanical subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely, safe, and high‑quality delivery of services and installations.
  • Oversee all mechanical interfaces across packages and workstreams, ensuring technical compliance with project specifications.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including the client, design teams, and site teams.
  • Identify risks within the mechanical scope and implement mitigation strategies to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Support the project’s sustainability and carbon reduction objectives through effective management of plant selection, materials, and methodologies.
  • 27 days annual leave + bank holidays

Requirements:

  • Strong mechanical engineering background, with a solid understanding of HVAC systems, public health services, plant rooms, and commissioning processes.
  • Proven ability to manage mechanical systems through design, installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
  • Experience delivering complex mechanical packages on major building services projects.
  • Proficiency in construction planning, scheduling, and managing work packages from pre‑construction through to completion.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety practices, including lifting operations, confined spaces, pressure systems, and site logistics.
  • Sound understanding of quality assurance and commissioning procedures, including IST processes and integrated systems testing.
  • Relevant qualifications such as BTEC / HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • CSCS Card and SMSTS certification.
