Enso Recruitment is delighted to be working with a global, enterprise-scale technology organisation that is undergoing significant transformation and is now looking to appoint a Software Support Team Lead to build and lead a high-performing support function within their Belfast operation.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role where you’ll shape how production support operates locally, act as the escalation point for complex technical issues, and drive service excellence across business-critical platforms used at scale.

The Role

You’ll lead a Level 2 application support team operating in a high-availability, business-critical environment, while remaining technically hands-on.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing a Belfast-based support team within a global operations function
  • Acting as the senior escalation point for complex production issues and outages
  • Owning Incident, Problem and Change Management activities in line with ITIL practices
  • Overseeing application deployments, upgrades, fixes and enhancements across environments
  • Monitoring application health, performance, and system stability
  • Supporting distributed systems across both cloud and on-prem environments
  • Managing application stacks across production and non-production environments
  • Writing automation scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python, SQL etc.) for monitoring and operational efficiency
  • Producing high-quality documentation such as runbooks and troubleshooting guides
  • Leading major incident calls and driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Tracking team KPIs and contributing to operational planning and workload management
  • Supporting the development and growth of team members through mentoring and coaching

About You

  • Proven experience leading a Level 2 / Application / Production Support team
  • Strong hands-on technical background across Windows Server and Linux/Unix environments
  • Solid experience with SQL (e.g. T-SQL, SQL Server, query optimisation)
  • Experience using networking tools such as ssh, sftp, traceroute, etc.
  • Scripting capability in tools such as PowerShell, Bash, Perl or Python
  • Strong understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management)
  • Experience using monitoring and observability platforms
  • Exposure to automation tooling such as Jenkins, Ansible, or similar
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-availability environments
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Salary: Up to £75k
