Overview
An established engineering manufacturer is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of low and medium voltage switchgear used in safety‑critical applications. The role offers exposure across full product lifecycle activities, from concept through to production support.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and development of low and medium voltage switchgear assemblies
- Support new product introduction from feasibility through to production
- Apply robust design tools such as DFMEA and functional analysis
- Produce and maintain accurate engineering documentation
- Support manufacturing, investigations, and customer site activities
Requirements
- HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Strong mechanical engineering knowledge
- 2D/3D CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred)
- Understanding of risk management and material properties
Desirable Experience
- Switchgear or rail electrification products
- Mechanical interlocks and drive systems
- Thermoplastic / thermoset moulding
- Awareness of IEC / BS EN standards (e.g. IEC)
