Background and RoleIMCD UK is based in Sutton, Surrey, and employs over 300 people. The role of Associate Sales/SupplyService Representative (SSR) is a customer service-based role, working as the first point of contact forcustomers/suppliers, responsible for building strong relationships and delivering excellent service bothinternally and externally. SSRs are vital to the IMCD business working in all market sectors
Your responsibilities at IMCD:
Our SSR team fulfils two key functions: supporting the sales side and/or supporting the purchasing side ofour business. Typically, an SSR specialises in one of these two functions, but occasionally performs acombination of both.
Sale-side: First point of contact for customers in relation to order placement Receiving customer orders mainly by email/phone and placing these in our ERP system Dealing with queries relating to these orders such as price queries and delivery delays Developing and maintaining good relationships with customers and colleagues Developing good communication skills via email and phone with internal and externalcustomers/colleagues Following Best Practice in relation to IMCD goals and values Dealing and resolving customer complaints such as damaged or delayed deliveries Managing workload in an efficient and organized way, keeping the ERP system/colleagues up to datewhere necessary. Efficient and supportive team working Any other ad hoc tasks as required
Purchasing-side: Responsible for placing supplier purchase order on our ERP system Placing purchase orders based on customer/supplier requirements, stock holding and product stocklevels Dealing with queries relating to these orders such as price queries and delivery delays Maintaining stock levels in accordance with our stock policies Developing and maintaining good relationships with suppliers and colleagues Developing good communication skills via email and phone with internal and externalsuppliers/colleagues Following Best Practice in relation to IMCD goals and values Working with our third-party warehouses and hauliers to resolve any purchase order queries such asdamages and delays. Resolving any purchase related complaints and recording these so that we can look for areas ofimprovement. Managing workload in an efficient and organized way, keeping the ERP system/colleagues up to datewhere necessary. Efficient and supportive team working Any other ad hoc tasks as required
Ideal Candidate: Excellent communication skills – An essential! Not only talking on the phone and buildingrelationships with customers and suppliers of all types, but also putting together professional emailsand listening to and understanding clients’ orders and colleagues’ instructions. Resilient, and able to multi-task and work under pressure – No two days are the same at IMCD.We work at a fast pace, and often encounter tight deadlines. You will have demonstrable experiencein working to an excellent standard when under pressure, adapting to complex or challenging situationsas they arise. Solutions-focussed – our SSR Teams work with our internal teams and customer/suppliers toovercome challenges, solve problems, and constantly seek to improve processes. You will beresourceful, able to understand and assess a situation quickly, and calmly identify and implementsolutions/ improvements. A can-do attitude – our values are central to all that we do. You will go a long way if you use yourinitiative and common sense, and are happy to roll your sleeves up and support the wider team Being a team player – Supporting colleagues when needed and working as part of a team is essentialto your team’s success Being highly numerate – we work with numbers a lot on the SSR team – be it giving quotes, placingorders, preparing reports or working with spreadsheets. Being able to spot discrepancies, working withpercentages and in general be comfortable working with numbers.
