Overview
Quality Inspector (Manufacturing) – Saxmundham, Suffolk
Location: Saxmundham, Suffolk
Salary: £35k-£40k + Overtime & Bonus
Shift: Double Days (6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm rotating)
What makes this role different
- Technical Ownership: You will be on the shop floor, using your hands and your expertise (mechanical checks, visual inspection, calibration) rather than just entering data.
- Modern Systems: ISO 13485 and FDA regulated, but with digital systems that support you rather than slow you down.
- Real-World Impact: You inspect products that go directly into hospitals and clinics, and your work impacts patient safety.
The Reality
The Reality Check: Most Quality roles are about firefighting someone else’s mess, drowning in paperwork, and being ignored when you flag issues early. You end up feeling like a “policeman” that production tries to avoid.
The Opportunity
I am working with a Medical Device manufacturer that does things differently. In this business, Quality has a seat at the table. When you spot a process issue, you aren’t just logging it, you are part of the team fixing it. The engineering team actually wants your input.
Who You Are
- You are likely in a regulated manufacturing environment (Aerospace, Automotive, Medical, or Precision Engineering) and you are tired of standards being “optional.”
- You can read technical drawings and specs independently.
- You prefer being part of a solution rather than just reporting problems.
- You are the type of person who gets annoyed by shortcuts or sloppy standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical checks, visual inspections, and calibration on manufactured components on the shop floor.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Identify, document, and help implement corrective actions in collaboration with the engineering team.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 13485 and FDA regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of processes to maintain high-quality output.
Qualifications
- Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (Aerospace, Automotive, Medical, or Precision Engineering).
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards and avoiding shortcuts.
Rewards
- £35,000 – £40,000 base salary + annual reviews.
- Overtime paid at premium rates.
- 22 days holiday + Bank Holidays + your birthday off.
- Bonus scheme, dental scheme, and company pension.
- A culture where “Quality” is a core value, not a bottleneck.
