Senior Civil Engineer

Inform3 are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead and manage foundation and ground engineering projects from pre-construction through to completion, applying engineering and pricing expertise to ensure safe, timely, and commercially successful delivery.
The role is designed as a structured progression pathway toward a Contracts Manager position, with increasing responsibility for operational, commercial, and strategic performance.
Senior Engineer Role Overview
- Review geotechnical information, drawings, and technical specifications to develop compliant, buildable, and cost-effective solutions.
- Lead or support tender preparation, including detailed pricing build-ups for labour, plant, materials, and subcontract packages.
- Identify technical and commercial risks at bid stage and implement mitigation strategies.
- Develop value engineering solutions to optimise programme and cost efficiency.
- Support scope clarification and commercial input during contract negotiations.
- Oversee multiple live projects to ensure delivery in line with programme, budget, quality, and safety requirements.
- Manage site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to maintain productivity and performance standards.
- Ensure method statements and risk assessments are effectively implemented on site.
- Monitor production outputs, plant utilisation, and project cost performance.
- Resolve technical and operational challenges in a timely and practical manner.
- Administer contracts in accordance with agreed terms and conditions.
- Manage variations, change control processes, and support preparation of valuations and payment applications.
- Monitor financial performance and contribute to forecasting of final accounts.
- Support contractual risk management and dispute avoidance where required.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, consultants, and supply chain partners.
- Lead progress meetings and provide clear technical and commercial reporting.
- Promote a strong health, safety, and compliance culture across all projects.
- Conduct site reviews and audits to ensure adherence to legislation and industry standards.
- Take increasing accountability for multiple concurrent projects as part of development toward Contracts Manager level.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to resource planning, workload forecasting, and business growth initiatives.
Senior Engineer Experience Required
- Civil Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong background in foundation, groundworks, or related civil engineering disciplines.
- Proven experience in estimating and pricing construction packages.
- Sound understanding of construction contracts and commercial management principles.
- Strong financial awareness and cost control capability.
- Effective leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
