The IT Sr. Project Manager acts as a strategic partner to IT and Business leadership, translating complexbusiness strategies into executable technology roadmaps. This role is responsible for maximizing businessvalue by optimizing the delivery of either individual projects or project portfolios within a given tech stack,ensuring alignment with organizational goals. You will lead the analysis and optimization of the costs,resources, technologies and processes for all the projects within the assigned portfolio.You will champion agile transformation, drive cross-functional collaboration, and lead high-impactinitiatives from concept to launch and include end user and third party provider activities pertaining to thedesign, development, testing, documentation, and implementation of application product and services. Asa senior leader, you will not only manage projects but also mentor teams, foster a culture of continuousimprovement, and ensure that our technology investments deliver measurable ROI.
In this pivotal role, you will architect and drive the delivery of our enterprise-scale application landscape,serving as the strategic leader for our ERP, Corporate, and Core Business systems. You will bridge the gapbetween complex business processes and technical architecture, ensuring that our suite of integratedapplications—from ERP and HRIS to Finance and Legal systems—are not only implemented successfullybut are architected to scale, secure, and optimized for long-term business value.
Professional Experience
- Typically 7–10+ years of IT project management experience
- Lead ERP & Core System Transformations: Direct the full lifecycle of large-scale ERP and CorporateApplication implementations (e.g. P2P, Finance), managing complex migrations, upgrades, and globalrollouts. Knowledge of High Radius and Sage X3 a plus.
- Architectural Strategy & Governance: Partner with Enterprise Architects to define and enforcesolution standards, ensuring all application projects align with the broader IT roadmap, securityprotocols, and integration strategies.
- Solution Design & Optimization: Lead the evaluation and design of scalable technical solutions,translating intricate business requirements into robust application architectures that minimizetechnical debt.
- Corporate Application Portfolio Management: Oversee the health and evolution of the corporatesoftware ecosystem, driving continuous improvement, system rationalization, and the retirement oflegacy platforms.
- Cross-Platform Integration: Manage the interdependencies between critical business systems,ensuring seamless data flow and process automation across the enterprise architecture.Strategic Stakeholder Partnership: Act as the primary technical liaison for business units (Finance, HR,Legal, Operations), translating their strategic goals into actionable application roadmaps and projectdeliverables.
- Vendor & Release Management: Orchestrate high-level vendor relationships and manage rigorousrelease schedules to ensure system stability, compliance, and timely delivery of new features.
- Project Intake & Governance: Partner with PMO leadership to drive data-driven portfolio decisions, establishing rigorous go/no-go criteria that align investment with business strategy.
- Prioritization & Optimization: Evaluate project value to prioritize and allocate resources effectively, ensuring work begins at the optimal time.
- Portfolio Planning: Develop project sequencing and timing, considering resource constraints and interdependencies.
- Resource Capacity Planning: Assess resource utilization against available capacity and allocate resources accordingly.
- Portfolio Intelligence: transform raw project data into actionable insights for executive leadership, providing transparency into portfolio health, value realization, and strategic alignment.
- Value Management: Evaluate, measure, and track project benefits at the portfolio level.
- Communication: Clearly communicate all aspects of project and portfolio progress to relevant stakeholders.
- Assess Risk: Assess and manage portfolio-level risks, dependencies, and critical paths.
- Change Management: Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate verification techniques
Product & Requirements Management
- Requirements Elicitation & Analysis: Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to gather,document, and analyze business requirements, translating them into clear, actionable user stories.
- Backlog Management: Assist the Product Owner in managing and prioritizing the product backlog,ensuring stories are well-defined, appropriately sized, and ready for development.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a bridge between the development team and business stakeholders,clarifying requirements and fostering a shared understanding of project goals and scope.
- Documentation: Create and maintain essential documentation, including user stories, acceptancecriteria, and process flows.
- Testing Support: Partner with the development team to define test cases and acceptance criteria, andlead User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Requirements: Ensure projects meet business requirements and compliance standards (e.g., security,privacy, and regulatory).
- Scrum Facilitation: Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Standup, SprintReview, and Sprint Retrospective, ensuring their productivity and adherence to time-boxes.
- Servant-Leadership & Coaching: Coach and mentor the development team on agile principles andScrum practices, promoting self-organization and cross-functionality increasing velocity, quality, andpredictability.
- Impediment Removal: Proactively identify, track, and help the team remove roadblocks andimpediments.
- Continuous Improvement: Guide the team in process improvement through retrospectives and byfostering a collaborative culture.
- Reporting & Metrics: Track and report on key metrics like milestones, deliverables, and agile metrics(e.g., burndown charts, velocity) to provide transparency into team performance and progress.Documentation: Document lessons learned and conduct post-project evaluations.
Technical & Strategic Acumen
- Technical Understanding: Familiarity with enterprise platforms, including the ability to overseerelated projects. Understand software development lifecycles (SDLC) and comfortably collaborate withengineers on technical requirements.
- Emerging Technologies: Maintain a general awareness of emerging technologies such as GenerativeAI, Machine Learning, and Robotics.
- Business Translation: Capable of grasping complex technical concepts, evaluating vendor proposals,and clearly communicating implications to business stakeholders. Comfortable translating technicaldetails into business outcomes and ROI for leadership.
- Phase-Gate Governance: Support and maintain the governance structure to evaluate, authorize, andmonitor projects as they pass through the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with organizationalstandards
- Strategic Portfolio Optimization: Utilize advanced techniques to identify and manage the optimalgrouping of projects to maximize risk-adjusted portfolio value while adhering to budgetary constraints.
- Integrated Reporting and Analytics: Analyze and report on the overall portfolio’s health, value, andprogress, providing high-level visibility to senior leadership for informed decision-making.
- Portfolio-Level Risk Mitigation: Assess the risk nature of individual projects and proactively manageconsolidated portfolio-level risks to safeguard the success of the broader technology roadmap.
Education / Years of Related Experience
- 10+ years of experience, specifically leading IT project portfolios with minimum of 5 years in ERP, P2P,PIM, WMS solutions
- PMP certification required. Additional certifications such as CSM (Certified Scrum Master), ITIL, orequivalent are strongly encouraged
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering,Computer Science, Management, or related Technical field.
- Jira, Confluence and Smartsheet required
