Role Summary – Clinical Research Nurse
This is a full-time, on-site role to support clinical operations within a Department of Defense (DoD) healthcare environment. This role combines direct patient care with protocol-driven clinical research execution. It requires high-level clinical judgement, regulatory awareness, and strong cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct clinical assessments, vital signs, and study procedures within scope of nursing practice.
- Administer investigational products (as permitted), observe participants, and document clinical finding per protocol.
- Support participant recruitment, screening, and informed consent in collaboration with CRCs and investigators.
- Ensure all participant interactions and clinical activities meet Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), International Council for Harmonization (ICH), and Department of Defense (DoD) Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) requirements.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and contribute to query resolution in Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems.
- Serve as a liaison among site clinicians, research teams, and military medical personnel.
- Support protocol adherence, report deviations, and assist with site readiness for audits and monitoring visits.
- Collaborate with Clinical Research Coordinator’s (CRC’s) on regulatory documentation, participant tracking, and study logistics.
- Provide subject-matter expertise on clinical procedures, workflow optimization, and nursing considerations in protocol execution.
- Ability to perform protocol procedures as needed (e.g. phlebotomy, ECGs, biological specimen collection).
Required Qualifications
- Batchelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance per Department of Defense (DOD) requirements.
- Strong foundation in clinical nursing practice, patient assessment, and clinical documentation.
Highly Desired
- Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA) /Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) certification. Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Knowledge
- Experience with MHS GENESIS
- Experience within Department of Defense (DoD), Veterans Affairs (VA) or Federal Healthcare settings.
